Sedgefield House is a considered response to its bush setting, shaped around a simple idea: to make the landscape an integral part of everyday life.
The brief called for a relaxed, single-storey bush home with generous verandahs, abundant natural light and a strong connection between inside and out. Rather than treating the house as an object within the landscape, the design is arranged as a series of spaces and thresholds that continually open toward it.
A central outdoor spine runs through the house, creating a sequence of sheltered courtyards, verandahs and living spaces.
The material palette is deliberately restrained. White masonry walls provide a robust, grounded base, contrasted with warm timber and dark metalwork overhead.
The resulting home is less about a singular view and more about a continual experience of landscape.
