Updating the existing cafe, Equium Social required a larger purpose-built kitchen, more seating and upgraded bathrooms while retaining and complimenting the established front-of-house and comfortable atmosphere. The character of the project uses a patchwork of natural materials to weave old and new into a cohesive and welcoming environment.
The most important gesture was to open up the kitchen so as guests enter, they can engage with the chefs and become excited about the food being made. Display shelves show-off ferments, pickles and fresh produce—celebrating the act of preparing and enjoying a meal.
