Brunker Road Development
The Brunker Road development is a proposal for medium density housing on a small lot in the Adamstown Renewal Corridor. Critical of the SEPP 65 model for development that is churning out building after building that all look the same, we developed a more honest and fresh approach.
How can we develop more with less?
The function and form were developed concurrently. The simplicity of the form speaks of the building’s need to fulfill its functional requirements (without the fake or frilly extras) whilst facade articulation is used to provide depth to the windows and accommodate the structure and services. The windows and decks become a subtraction of the form’s mass while the roof references the rhythm and articulation of the surrounding residential dwellings. What we achieve, is something unique which is sympathetic to the neighbourhood, gives back to the community, is cost effective and returns a higher investment for the developer and user.
